Uh oh... another crapped my pants at work thread

So yesterday I crapped my pants at work. No better way to start off the new year, huh? I was nearly within reach of the bathroom door knob and wham it hit me. It isn't my first time having that happen at work, but it's been 8 months or more since the last one.

The cause was I've had a bit of a flare up due to holiday stress and travel, and therefore I knew the risk was there. Yesterday, the blood seemed gone and my bm count was down so I thought things were turning around for the better. Then this. Luckily, it was 15 minutes before I had to go home for the day and only a little came out in my pants before I got to the bowl. So, I cleaned up very thoroughly, cleaned my khaki's the best I could, went commando, and went home. I have some scented wet wipe like things that are a life saver for things like this. I never mentioned the accident to my wife and she said I smelled nice when I got home so I must've done well. Lol so those of you who are vain and worry about smelling like poop, if you clean up well then there is no cause for concern (I know I've read a few threads on it).

There are some signs that things are improving but this is a lingering flare like thing. Today, I'm at a week since it started. I was already doing daily enemas when this hit and I am a little leery to boost them to 2 times a day (once at noon and once at bedtime), everyday as they are the 60ml/4g generic rowasas. I did use them twice a day two times this week (figured I wasn't retaining the full amount anyways) and it did knock the blood away, and decrease the bm count. I'm mostly leery about doing the twice daily thing everyday.

It happens, you handled it with aplomb :) I think sometimes it's more likely when you ARE starting to turn around because you feel good and maybe get a little cocky. At least that's how it's happened for me in the past.

Sometimes I think it's life's way of keeping us humble. A little embarrassment and panic here and there to make you think proactively about this disease.

This reminds me to thank God that now that I'm retired I am no longer embarrassing myself anymore. I wore pads all the time "just in case." I did carry a little container that one drop would help eliminate the odor involved. Thanks for the smile.

I seem to have more accidents when I'm feeling better because I get a little cocky. You feel something going on inside you but since you know you are doing better you can wait that extra five minutes before running to the bathroom - ooooops. I have been feeling much better lately myself so I will probably pay the price soon.

Thursday, I shat my pants on the way to work. It has become so mundane, it's not even worth mentioning. It's just part of the daily routine sometimes.

It didn't happen for a few weeks, so it was due, I guess.

Pluot, garylouisville: Yeah, I think you are both right on. I was feeling better so I figured I had a little more time than I did, so I ended up paying the price.

Somedude, I remember you writing a few months back you had accidents during your drive a couple times a week. So, going a few weeks without an accident sounds like an improvement. Don't get me wrong, it sucks that any of us have accidents at all. Was there an improvement and if so to what do you attribute it?

I'm on 4x800 asacol pills per day, I also take a large dose of L-Glutamine powder once per day before bedtime and I drink a mixture of Chinese herbal tea every day.

That's apart from the other supplements/Meds, I take.

That's about it.

Sorry your 2013 had to start like that!

I actually threw up in my office for the first time ever yesterday and again today - that's happened before at work but always with lots of notice and I've always been able to run to the bathroom. This week it was a good thing I have a plastic-lined trash can, and I hope to all that is holy my boss didn't hear down the hall. I doubt he did, but still.

No, I'm not pregnant before you ask - I was trying out the spironolactone for acne again and this time it does not agree with me at all!

Ah! Here I am, still in the hospital,reading this thread. I'm thinking to myself, oh ya, how am I going to manage in the summer when I don't wear blacks pants and a coat past my bum? Then, I read soy studs comment and bust out laughing!

You can still wear black pants in the summer (unless you are under a dress code).

I was very sad to not be able to wear white pants this past summer when my UC was in full swing :(.

Ya you can wear any color you want in the summer, I'm talking about black sort of stress pants, kind of easy to rinse out if need be. They are not summery. I guess I can wear skirts. But what if it goes down your leg? This is a nightmare

I went 14 months without an accident. Then I had one on Friday. Totally killed my buzz. Just when you think you are over the disease it hits you hard and brings you down again.

I was at a New Year's Eve party several months ago, where not one drop of alcohol or triggering foods were being served, when my tummy started rumbling. My friend lives in a small apartment and I really did not want everyone to hear or smell what was going on. So, I figured, I live only 5 minutes away, I'll make it home real quick. Got to my apartment building, parked the car, thought I was safe! Dropped the keys, and as I bent down to pick them up....all hell broke loose! Managed to drag myself into the building and get down the hall and into my apartment without seeing another person. Thank goodness I live in a building full of seniors and other disabled people. I guess none of them were out late that night!!

I have accidents in my apartment all the time! So not cool!

Oh, and about a month ago, I was at the grocery store when I felt something warm and gooey running down my legs. No chance of stopping it. Ditched the shopping cart, wrapped my jacket around my waist, and tried to get out of there as fast as possible, without leaving a trail.

I too miss being able to get dressed without having to make sure clothes are dark enough and long enough. Can I really carry a jacket with me in the middle of summer, just in case I need it to tie around my waist?

Every day is a new (and sometimes frightening) adventure!!

I've only had an accident once!....before I started taking meds. I was in my kitchen, making myself a nice cup of tea, and then out of nowhere, real quick, I felt the urge, and before I could even put my cup down, I heard what sounded like a cork popping, and it was everywhere....I was so shocked, being my first time, I couldn't move for a minute, and then I managed to limp to my bedroom leaving a trail, my three dogs then proceeded to follow me sniffing curiously!! smilewinkgrin

Sadly, accidents are just a part of this "wonderful" disease. Crap happens as they say haha. If you've had an accident after 14 months of not having one, then what's changed? Are you starting a uc flareup? Something ain't right so you right to see your GI, perhaps increase some of your meds on your own (e.g. take endocort or pred) if you're a uc oldtimer and done this before.

A blast from the past, this year old thread. If only I knew then it was the beginning of one terrible uc flareup that took a very long time to beat. Lol just look at the differences in medications now vs then tongue

My favorite way of crapping my pants is when I don't feel it happen, and later be surprised when I go to the toilet. :D

Always takes me awhile mentally to recoupe from an accident. Urge hit me the other day at home and I realized "Oh crap... not gonna make it" Thankfully garbage can was right there and no one was home, lol. Sucks in public but also takes a toll at home when you can't make it to your own bathroom.
