Just wanted some insight on this drug Simponi. Side effects, cost, general thoughts....

No real side effects for me. Cost me $5.00 an injection with co-pay assist. Works really well. Not quite in remission, bug much better.

My GI stays well informed and discusses cases with colleagues before decisions.
I asked for Simponi based on the good news on here yet he preferred Remi.
Said it's tried and true.
Could just be my case alone tho.

@Faithmac- wow $5! If I could do that and drop the Lialda and enemas- I'd be a very rich and happy UC-er.

My GI never even gave me the option of remicade !

Been on Simponi 7 weeks, and it's great.

Went right to it, skipped all other biologics. Started feeling better after 2 weeks, went into 80% symptomatic remission at about 4 weeks or so, had to start up Uceris (get rid of lingering diarrhea) at week 5, now at week 7 and at about 95%.....love it,quality of life is so good now, I can hold it when I have to poop with no stress!!!.

Remember that you will still need your Lialda and enemas (maybe) for the rest of your life as there is proof that they will still reduce your cancer risk greatly, regardless of the remission and Simponi.

NO side effects at all, autoinject is totally painless, $5 copay card!

I tried Remicade first and it didn't work well enough. Ended up in an even worse flare by the end of the year facing possible surgery if Simponi or Methotrexate didn't work. I went with simponi and have been symptom free for almost 4 months (although pred also helped me jump start that) I just started having some mucous this week for the first time, but I had strep throat and am on high dosage of antibiotics. I take my injection tonight so I am hoping I will get back to normal. :) I still have rowasa enemas that I can take if I have symptoms arise to hopefully ward them off quickly before it gets too out of control.
