Fever from the flu

Is there anything that can break it? Or just let it do its thing and sleep? It's been hovering near or on 99.

I started having symptoms two days ago. Yesterday's symptoms kicked my butt. Dry heaved like you wouldn't believe. I lived off of Gravol, lol. I barely ate.

But today I haven't felt nauseated or wanting to vomit. Thank God.

You can take Tylenol, but if it's only at 99 I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Feel better soon! If it stays low, I would let it run its course. (stupid flu)

I think I have one too! Felt iffy for a few days, then I had a cough and some phlegm but not deep in my lungs. I thought it was from smoking but I don't smoke cigs that much. Today after my colonoscopy I had the world's meanest chills; reminded me of my bad flares when I could layer blankets on me and still be cold! I don't know my temp but I think the fever broke. I still feel tired from it and the colonoscopy.

Also, I say let it runs it's course. It can kill some off the bad bacteria in your body — or is this more of a wives tale? I felt it helped me out a lot afterward. If you have chills, you can get 2 water bottles, fill them with the hottest water you can handle against bare skin and place them on your armpit area. Bottom of the bottle touching the bed, and caps on your shoulders per se.

Funny enough, I felt a little off last Friday when I had my scope done. The nurse said I had a low grade fever. It hasn't broke yet. It's a pain, especially when my eyes start stinging.

Tylenol doesn't touch it. Oh well.

Hope you feel better tomorrow, Kat! I certainly hope so.

Oh boy, hope it isn't something that continues. If the Tylenol doesn't help, then it's maybe an infection...maybe up your probiotics?

How are you today?

Kat...hope yours doesn't continue or morph into something worse.

Thank you Sibby and Quincy! I actually slept mines off for the past 2 days and it went away. I think it might have been a cold since I got the whole shebang without vomiting.

I hope you're feeling a little better today, Sibby!

Hey Q. :) No I haven't been on probiotics for a long while. Never helped me. It usually caused some issues. Not compatible? lol, idk.

My fever hasn't broke yet. It's 99.1, which isn't high, but certainly not near my normal temp (high 96 - low 97).

Just let it run. I let one hit 103 last year before I went to a cold rag.

A slight temperature elevation (technically, a fever is 100.6 of above) can actually be beneficial, as it makes your body a less welcoming environment for bacteria and viruses. You really don't need to treat a temperature lower than that, but it's certainly appropriate to take Tylenol for any aches and pains the flu is bringing with it.

I had the flu in February, so I know how brutal it can be; its certainly not just another cold. Anyway, if you can handle it, dont take anything to reduce the fever. Your body is putting up a fight against the virus, and lowering your fever would be like taking guns out of an armies hands. Let your already compromised immune system do what it can to make you feel better!
