hi, all. i've been a lingering reader for a while and decided i'd make my first post as i am currently in an unbearable flare and would love some understanding/guidance. it started a little over a week ago and is my worst one yet--horrible cramping/pain (lower left side) that sends me to the toilet, but all that comes out is mucus/blood/and i guess what i could call intestinal matter. i can't really eat because eating makes the pain worse, of course. i have a functional medicine doctor who is having me do a SIBO (small intestine bacterial overgrowth) test, which i will do this morning. then starting on a prescript
ion for xifaxan which helped with my last flare. also waiting to pick-up a prescript
ion for butyrate enemas, which i've read great things about
. i'm really down as i've never been in a flare this bad (just had to take a week off from work) and am pretty scared i'm going to have to resort to predisone or other pharmaceuticals which i am very against. any advice/support with the treatment protocols i've mentioned would be great! happy healing...
