I say the proof is in the food. I know my local organic farms food is grown with less pesticide and better care. It doesnt look better, it actually looks worse. All my apples are different sizes, shapes and colors...but i am not sick anymore!
Its a simple test that i ran many times just to prove it to myself. If i eat the junk that is mass produced i will get sick in a day or two, ...its that quick! I have been vigilant for over a year now and as long as i eat the local organic stuff im normal. At a certain point i just decided that i didnt want to be sick and the cheap food wasnt werth it!
Again its just my body(and my families) so i cant speak for everyone.
You're god d**n right.
Visit the place, get to know the surroundings, ask around, spend a day with them and research, research, research is the best advice I can give. Ask other people about
their experience with it. As Alan Greenspan said, reputation goes a long way and the bad apples get noticed and filtered out. Chances are if other individuals are having good results with the CSAs or whatever, then it's probably good for you. Chewed bug marks and holes is always a good sign on produce. At the end of the day, you are the N=1 and nothing more. You'll never know until you try it out for yourself.
