People on imuran, 6mp, etc how do you like these drugs? Have they helped you etc? Thanks guys

I tried Imuran back in 2005 until my GI took me off of it in 2007 because he thought it wasn't helping anymore. I should have stayed on it. I know that now. My new GI put me back on it about a year ago and I have been on it since then. It has helped me very much with my remission. The only thing I have is nausea once in a while but that's a lot easier to deal with than a bleeding colon. I also cover up in the sun or use sun lotion but other than that I really have no issues. I'm glad it's helping me because nothing else has helped (except Remicade).

I have been on imuran for 14 years now.
I have had ups and downs but I have been lucky enough not to have had any surgery. Touch wood.

I have been on 6mp(75mg) for 7 months and off all steroid for 1 month. I am feeling fine but still have blood with every BM. Doctors have checked my thiopurine  levels and they are actually high but my liver function and CBC are fine so he is not concern. But I don't think, it is helping fully.

I get tired very quickly but not sure it is medicine or uc itself.

Before you start imuran, your doctor should do TPMT blood test. Also while on imuran, check your liver function and CBC frequently. Your doctor might do test to check thiopurine levels to optimise treatment.

Hope it works for you and you enjoy long remmission.

I've been on imuran since December and has got rid of all my symptoms, just a bit of bloating left, but I'm pretty sure all my inflammation has gone. I was worried, with all the side effects that were spoken but I've been lucky in that I've felt no ill effects.

Just make sure you get regular blood tests for your liver and blood counts.

That's good to know del :) I feel like it's the next step for me to try to get remission right now

I have been in remission for three years while on it. I had a bit of nausea at first, but that got better after a couple weeks. Maybe more intense colds, but I've also had kids in preschool. It has worked great for me.

Cjgk- awesome great to hear. Do you combine it with anything else or is it your main squeeze keeping you in remission?

I'm also on Asacol HD, but that definitely didn't put me in remission. I also used prednisone until the Imuran kicked in.

Cj- right where I'm at. Yeah I don't think Asacol helps me to be honest.
