And, biopsy shows no sign of colitis now or in the past.
My world was turned upside down 2 years, 4 months, 3 weeks and 2 days ago...and it has just been turned upside down again!
Now what?
I do have 2 diverticulitis, and bile adhering to my colon wall. He said there is medicine to help me process the bile since I do not have a gallbladder. I will never take ibuprofen again, if possible, and I need to be careful with my coffee intake; this I learned on my own this past 3 weeks.

What is on my mind is POPCORN! How painful is that with diverticulitis?

Wow! How confusing to be told you have UC, only to have them change it now!!

I'd be cautious with the popcorn... I know nuts, seeds and popcorn are usually no no's with diverticulitis.

Popcorn is probably a definite no-no with diverticulitis. Just one time could be a disaster.

What can I say. No colitis. So jealous lol.

Hope its the result you wanted as I am sure it is and at least now you can concentrate on getting the bile thing sorted out.

What the heck confused

So, excuse my ignorance, but is it possible that if UC is in remission then the colon looks 100% normal? Or would it always show evidence that it was there? Secondly, how the heck did they miss the diverticulosis the first time scoping??? I'm so confused! I'm so hopeful for you that it's not ibd. I guess just confused how they diagnosed it before? Did your original biopsies just show non specific chronic inflammation or what? You must have so many questions too! Please keep us posted

My pathology report shows 'quiescent colitis' in portions of my colon that are no longer actively inflamed.

#1 question on my list: do we KNOW that I do not have colitis?

My poor son, 30 years old with Crohn's is saying, hey what the heck? He is wondering if his Humira is working and I would rather have this if he could not have it.

Do I jump into exercising, eating more healthy or is my bile hanging out in my colon going to cramp me up and make me poo?

I'm tired! :) Thinking straight has not been easy today. And I should not complain! It appears that I do not have UC.

Toomuchpoopin, was it you asking about hair loss from taking asacol?

quiescent colitis: had to google that, "quiet / inactive"

They looked for signs of colitis in the biopsies, it wasn't there.

Wow, this sure is crazy. I'm sure you'll think of many more questions too, hopefully you have a GI follow up soon! Please keep us posted, this is interesting stuff! Like reading a mystery novel tongue

Asacol definitely made my hair fall out by the gobs while I was on the max dose! (4800 mg) Now that I'm on Apriso, I'm not losing much hair at all!

Toomuch: because now that I have been off asacol for 3 weeks, my hair is thickening. I'm not losing hardly any at all. I didn't realize I had that much coming out.

Just to let you know that 3 weeks off asacol will have absolutely NO effect on thickening of your hair.
The growth process takes a very long time...so if you're noticing new hairs growing in, it wasn't the asacol.

Excuse my lack of memory on this....but you do have your previous pathology report from the biopsies when you were first diagnosed?

It's great to hear you have no symptoms at this point.....I would suggest you get another scope in a year or so just to confirm...unless you get symptoms before then, a sig-scope might be a good tell.

Ixnay on the opcornpay if you have diverticulitis/diverticulosis.....but there are popcorn treats without hulls if you have to have them.

Did he give you a med or supplement to help with the bile? Did he mention fibre supplements to be of help to you? I hear they are...

Yes, I have the previous pathology report which did not support ulcerative colitis.
I decided to forget the popcorn. :)
I do not have any med/supplement for the bile. He said to call if I have problems otherwise we will talk May 14. So far, no problems.
I have been trying to find info on bile in colon, not finding much info.

Weird that they can tell you the past from the biopsies. I would think they could say you have no signs of active UC now but how do they know you never had any? I eat popcorn, i would think it's probably not the best idea to eat it with diverticulitis but it's exciting to get news of no UC. Congrats :)

Amazing to hear that you don't have UC!...that must have been quite a pleasant shock actually!..now of course you have to figure out a different treatment plan..
