I believe I read 1 in 3 will end up having more than one autoimmune condition. And more so in women than men.
I have only IBD - thankfully. And so far...
The truth is simply that no one knows if IBD in an autoimmune disease, caused by bacteria, or by virus or even fungus or some type of environmental factor and gene combo on it's own or in combo with all the others. The disease itself shows the characteristics of them all in one way or another.
It's almost like an all out confusion or war depending on your viewpoint.
I think at the end of the day what matter's most irrespective of belief is that it would be totally awesome to just find a way to alleviate the symptoms that would work for absolutely everyone... every single one of us.
We'd all be happy with that I'm sure even if the disease itself remained a mystery for years to come.
This has happened before. Where some type of med unexpectedly works and no one knows why for many years. So who knows... Perhaps one day we might all get lucky here.
