New study showing a 5x increase in MAP infection in UC versus controls, (10x for Crohn's... so a subset of colitis patients could have the same etiology).

"In the studies presence of Mycobacterium avium subsp\. paratuberculosis was noted in 10 (62.5%) patients with Leiniowski-Crohn disease, in 5 (25%) patients with ulcerative colitis and in 1 patient 1 (8.3%) patient of the control group\."

MAP can be treated with a combination of 3 antibiotics (Clarithromycin, Rifabutin and Clofazimine). It's not always successful, and the regimin is >2 years(!). But it takes a bold doctor (and patient) to try this...

Um, MAP is a bacterium, not a virus. But yeah, this theory has been around forever, even Dr. Burrill Crohn himself thought it was a very likely suspect, though he could never prove it... I know I would be very angry if he turned out to be right, I mean so much suffering, for what? Why aren't more researchers interested in getting to the bottom of this?

Many scientists think UC and Crohn are caused by MAP, that's probably why WOO (wild oregano oil with high carvacrol rate) is a powerful treatment acting like an antibiotic against MAP, to deal with those diseases.

JeanLoop - What is the proof/evidence that wild oregano oil kills MAP bacteria? Have any links?

@ SBPatel, there arc studies that shows WOO kills bacterias in the guts, it's a powerful natural antibiotic. Also many people testimonials (here and on many other places ) go in the same way about the improvement of their 2634846 with the use of WOO.
