Man Sues Docs for Mocking Him During Colonoscopy

I always wondered what went on after you got knocked out. Let's hope this isn't the norm; if it is, I would rather not hear it. After this incident, you would hope that it doesn't happen again. Or at least they will learn to check closely for phones before they talk about someone.

My ex-wife is a nurse and worked in surgery a couple of times and mentioned that the surgeons and others in the OR would crack jokes during surgery, AKA the TV show M*A*S*H. While this particular incident seems a little unprofessional, cracking jokes may be a necessary part of removing tensions and stress in the environment. I remember when I was getting wheeled to surgery once I was on some kind of pre-med which made me extremely groggy and the nurses started joking that the chart shows I was a female and were confused and talked about lifting up my gown to check. I thought it was funny. I didn't complain.

Hmmmm, so they're in it for the joke cracking not the money lol!!

yeah, something like that. I'm sure docs see all sorts of people and some might gross people out. It is the doc's job to do the colono, but he/she has the right to be grossed out as long as she performs her job to the best of his/hers ability. There was some banter there between the docs....but I don't if it can hold in court. who knows.

I understand the patient's point of view though.

Well, I find this funny! Whatever it takes to do what they've got to do!
My doc said they like to make sure you are passing gas before they let you leave after the scope, but in my case I was good to go! I had horrible gas before and after, so I'm guessing during too! I felt bad for them back there while I was mindlessly farting away! eewwwww!!!!

A comment on the cop's cameras, my son in law bought his own since our county didn't supply them so he could prove he had done his job right when those arrested tried to tell a different story...it works both ways. Maybe brutality went down 80% because only 20% really happened.

Perhaps we should all wear recording devices so if we ever say anything offensive to anyone - whether anyone can hear it or not - we can be punished. Maybe we should all stop interacting for fear someone will decide it's bullying.

Or maybe some of us need to be a little less overly sensitive. I also couldn't care less what someone says about me when I can't hear it. As long as they're not accusing me of a crime, of course.

Of course this conversation was inappropriate, unprofessional and just plain sophomoric. I've heard a lot of jokes cracked in operating rooms and procedure rooms, but not about patients. The only few inappropriate comments I've heard were about massively obese patients, which way too many people in our society feel free to make no matter where they are.

where I go I can bring everything with me and throw it in a big bag under the patient rolling bed.

I have always gone in with a hosptial gown on. Where did he have his phone?! They make you leave your belongings in a drawer or with whoever brought you there. Strange.

Like Somedude, all my belongings go with me in a bag underneath the rolling bed I am wheeled around on.

I have to say, if I looked at people's butt holes all day long for a living I would probably crack some jokes too!

I read the entire article and have to agree with Poppie that the actions of the doctors, particularly Tiffany, were APPALLING.

What ever happened to respecting the dignity of the patient?
If she said (and did) the things mentioned in the article, she is a disgrace to the profession.
I've encountered some arrogant doctors, but this is unbelievable.
Nothing funny about it.
