Wow. Doesn't it figure, I find a family doctor I'm comfortable with, who's seen me through this whole mess from the beginning and now she's leaving town. She's referring her patients to two other doctors at the practice (I have a choice) but daaaamn. I don't want a new doctor. I don't want to have to explain what I went through, what I'm STILL going through etc. I worry they're going to think I'm over exaggerating and not be so helpful with my prescript
ion refills etc (my doc writes me whatever butt meds/asacols I need to hold me over until my GI appointment). Losing a good doctor sucks.

Been there, done that. It takes quite a while to train a doctor in and once they're trained in it can be devastating to lose them. My regular family doctor just left his practice and started another office on his own. I was able to follow him this time. The first time this happened to me I was in a panic and throwing a tantrum.

Lol. I'm pretty darn close to doing that myself!

That's how I felt when two of my hairdressers moved out-of-town. ;)
Who's old enough to remember the Saturday Night Live "it's better to look good than to feel good" skits?

Yes, indeed.
Finding a good doctor... I can't tell you how difficult it is to find medical professionals who are competent.
Keep digging and you shall find.
Best.

Do you have copies of all your tests in the last 4 years? If not make sure you get copies and have a home file, just in case you want to find a new GI or PCP it really helps to walk in with your recent tests.
Besides impressing your doctor with your organizational skills he/she responds more to reading tests than what you will say. That is the way they are trained.
I have gotten much more respect doing this. My GI who I liked more than any in my 14 years of UC retired at the age of 40-something and handed me/my files over to one of the "better" practices in town. No I don't like this new GI as much but I only go in for Rx renewal because I know there is nothing miraculous he has to offer so keep him for crisis and for c-scopes.
Haven't had either one so far (crisis or c-scope) but Rx re-up is a pain because nursing staff is overworked and never returns calls or gets the Rx renewed efficiently.

My condolences on the loss of your doctor.
I think bad docs are at least 4 out of 5, so when you find a good one, you should kidnap them and keep them locked up in your dungeon. :)

That's a shame for sure...but maybe she can tell you which of the two other doctors is the best!

I asked her for the low down on each doctor accepting her patients in the office. One is brand new (no thanks) and the other has been in practice about
ten years. She said I can meet them both and then decide. I think I'm going to shop around a bit. I need a good go to dr in my corner since GI appointments are difficult to get on short notice (though my GI did prescribe me what I wanted when I called the ffice and left a panicked message for him with one of the office gals).
