Grapefruit seed extract brand

Hi,

I want to use grape fruit seed extract for its antibacterial properties. Which brand do you guys recommend and also the duration and dosage? My DD is 9 yrs old.

Kamakya, I used Traveller's Friend but it may be an Australian brand. Not sure about your neck of the woods (whereever that may be).

Also, I came across and In Vitro/In Vivo clinical study once that suggested the ratio mix should be at least 2%. Ie, percentage of GSE drops to Water ... therefore 2% equals 2 drops GSE per 100ml (3.3oz) water.

Apparently the effectiveness increases with strength.

For the life of me I can't find the research paper.

Anyway, I used to double the mix for my kids at 4 drops per 100ml. Tastes like crap but they still drank it! Kids are strange that way. At least my kids are!!

One capsule only helped a little, three were too many so I take 2 capsules per day, but I'm an adult. I don't think she should take any more than one per day. You should be able to take the GSE out of the capsule to have her take it any way you want.

Traveller's Friend is a Citrus Seed Extract aka grapefruit seed extract, which is often confused with grape seed extract. I know I got them mixed up in the beginning because I took GSE (grapefruit seed extract) years ago with no good results but stopped when I read that some of the chemicals used to distill it were problematic. Benzene maybe? can't remember now but it was not Travellers Friend so I don't want to mislead.

I've been taking grape seed extract pills successfully for several months with no problems. It's a pill filled with powder of (guessing here) ground up grape seeds (edited). Grapefruit seed extract is liquid, that's how you'll know the difference.

I assumed the OP was looking for the antimicrobial/antifungal. If so, you'll need CSE/GSE liquid for that.

If you are just after an anti-oxidant then, yeah, you'll probably want the Grape Seed Extract.

What makes it confusing is that National Institutes of Health calls grape seed extract GSE and other people call grapefruit seed extract GSE too.

Here is a study that says it (grape seed extract) lowered inflammation in mice. Won't let me read the whole article so perhaps other will comment.

I've also read that grape seed extract heals wounds faster and I had surgery 14 stitches 7 days ago and healing has been extremely fast. Virtually no fluid from wound after the first day and skin about 90% closed on the cut. I only take 1 pill a day but am thinking about going to 2 on alternate days.

I was looking for antimicrobial/antifungal. Very confused now. What is the difference between grape seed extract and grapefruit seed extract? Which one is antimicrobial/antifungal/anti bacterial?

Grape seed extract comes from grape seeds, and has antioxidant properties.

Grapefruit extract (GSE) or Cirtus Seed Extract (CSE) comes from grapefruit seeds and is used as an anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, anti-viral supplement

I'm being treated for Lyme disease and my doctor has me taking Pure Encapsulations brand of Grapefruit Seed extract. I take one pill in the morning with the antibiotics and one in the afternoon with the antibiotics.

She has very high standards for the supplements she recommends so I would assume that it is a very good quality supplement.

you seriously need to follow the protocol, kamakya and not jump around or give her things off the protocol. I just want to say that for you once. You cant keep jumping around like this and get results. It is a waste of time and effort. I say this frankly and honestly.

grapefruit seed extract is not going to fix the dysbiosis and you dont need to add it to the biocidin prototcol because that protocol is enough.

I dont care that the integrative ped is new to medicine. You really need to try and put some trust in her and let her guide you. Her knowledge thus far seems MUCH BETTER then the advice I see you get here.

It certainly didn't do anything for my gut dysbiosis ... even at high strength dosages for several months. That said, I was probably feeding my klebsiella overgrowth with the starches I was eating. But it's hard to tell.

@PathogenKiller. We have decided to follow biocidin protocol yesterday. I was looking for GSE before that decision was made.
