Looking for UC 'penpal'

Hi guys,

I am looking for a penpal/friend of sorts who I can share my experiences with and ask questions to and just vent to etc., someone who understands what I'm going through. My family are great and all, but they don't know firsthand what it's like. Hopefully there's someone who can put up with constant questions and what not, and possibly young - I'm 18 and looking for someone who can relate.

Hi splangirluc, you know that posting on here regularly, with all your concerns and questions will give you lots more info than just one person ever can, why not do both?

because of your age it would be great if you could find or create a UC forum for teens or 20-somethings.
Twitter group maybe? what would be a good hashtag to describe? #UCteen is too limiting IMO.
You have different social, family, relationship and school issues than us older UC'ers. (We've got those problems for sure, just slightly different.)

Come here for med info and what your blood test and c-scope results mean.
But for daily support I think a smaller more homogeneous group would be good.

I'm 22 now but was diagnosed when I was 19 (suffered through it when I was 18 though). I'd be happy to give you someone to talk to and vent to. I could use the same. I understand the difficulties of being a teenager/young adult with this disease.
But definitely use this forum for medical advice and help with meds. It has a lot of different opinions and knowledge.

I might be too old for you now but I got dx at 22 but suffered for a long time before. I am 31 now and have been through so much. I am happy to help you in anyway I can. My email is in my profile. I was a difficult case to treat so I have been through a lot of different things.
