I just spent 6 nights in hospital due to UC, I was on IV steroids for 4 days (3x a day, 8 hours apart) and it didn't quite help as much as my doctor wanted it to.
He has also started me on two new drugs (Allopurinol and mercaptopurine), because I had a bad reaction with azathioprine I also have to have weekly blood tests!
he has also started me on mesalazine enemas.
I've been on oral steroids since being diagnosed 4 months ago so I am continuing those
I was discharged from hospital this afternoon (Monday) and I'm planning on going back to school for half of the day tomorrow and see how I go :)

has anybody been put on any of these drugs?? have they helped/made a difference?

I was on 6mp some time ago. It may take a little while for it to "kick in" for you. Lots of people have good success with it. It put my cousin in remission.

Just want to say from experience get off the steroids as soon as possible. They can have permanent side effects. I'm dealing with some now years later. Good luck!

How is your symptoms now? Are you still bleeding, pain or diarrhea?
