Whole Lialda tabs in stool

So i examined my stool today it was a clump of stool not formed but i saw 4 lialda tablets whole in the stool. I examined the tablets and it was as hard as it is originally with red coating on. My concern is i take 2 tabs in morning with food and 2 tabs at night after dinner. So today morning i didnt take any lialda then why there is 4 whole tabs in the stool. I understand if i t was 2 it couldve been frm last night dinner nd disnt dissolve but i saw 4 tabs meaning those other 2 tabs were frm 24 hrs ago. I am very confused abt this any idea?

Well $h!t happens, it isn't completely unheard of them being passed through without opening, these things do happen. If its the first time you shouldn't really worry at all about it, now if this happens all the time it could be an issue for you taking Lialda. Also a lot of the times you will see the shell of the pill, these pill coatings don't really dissolve as much as they break open. I see this from time to time as well a pill looks full and the same but in reality it is just a half shell stuck on the outside of the stool. If memory serves me correctly (fat chance) Lialda breaks open at a specific PH level in the colon, perhaps something changed your PH yesterday and therefore the pills didn't break open. I wouldn't stop taking your meds if this is just a one off time, but continue to monitor it to see if this is something that is happening on a regular basis and if it is call your GI to discuss a possible change in meds.

If you have too much of a problem with this for a few days then I would switch to a new med. It's not uncommon to find an unused pill every once in a while. That was kind of weird how you explained it. I often wondered myself when I saw pills in the stool, I always took two at once and never found any more than just one at a time. It kind of doesn't make sense that one went right straight through then why didn't the other one, at least sometimes?

No this is frm the same batch i ve been taking for a month. I'll examine my stool again nd see if it continues
