Canasa a miracle drug??

I have been in a flare for over a year and recently asked to try Canasa suppositories. After just ONE night of use, all of my symptoms went away.. I am trying not to get too excited as a lot of times this happens at first with all new meds but still, I can't believe it. On day 2 now and still normal BMs. :)))

I was hoping it would help since most of my inflammation is in my sigmoid colon and rectum. I have heard of people taking Canasa until they reach remission then just do it weekly. I am also taking 1.2g of Delzicol three times a day. For those of you taking Canasa, what regimen do you feel works best?

It used to work like a miracle for me when my inflammation was limited to the rectum. These days, it's not enough.

For those in the know... Is canasa just the brand name for a mesalazine suppository? I'm in the UK and will be adding my GI for a prescription for suppositories but not sure we have Canasa here. I hear so many good things on this forum about Canasa that I'd like to try and get this if possible. I imagine other mesalazine suppositories do the trick just as well?

Update: after a little more research, it seems like canasa is the same as as a salofalk suppository.

It's not the same. I have been using Salofalk (Dr Falk Pharma) for a long time, but it didn't work. Three years ago my doctor gave me Canasa (i think that was manufactured by Axcan Pharma) and this was the best drug. I used Canasa for two months and i was healthy about three years. Now i'm sick again. But in my country you can't buy this drug. Canasa is on sale only in US and you need to have a prescription from an American doctor. I live in Poland.. :(
