Question Gals....
Does your Colitis get worse when you are on your period? I've noticed, I flare more... Geesh...

Even if not flaring, I always get looser stools and a bit of D a couple of days before I start my period.

Yes, very common for hormonal changes to affect IBD.

Yes, much worse.
Not so much before it, maybe a half a day before it, but as soon as it arrives colitis is worse for the first 3 days or so.
The joys!

Yup, for me it's just before, during and just after and the worst part is, my cycle is 21 days...I had a period June 1 that lasted until june 5th then came again on june 28th and ended yesterday...I hate my body!! And I hate IBD.

Long before I was diagnosed, I had a lot of D leading up to my period. Now I don't have them anymore (due to constant birth control) so I wouldn't know if that still happens, but all those hormones can really mess with your body.

Absolutely! When I'm not flaring I notice a bit of difference (it's actually a warning my period is coming). When I am flaring...like now...the day before and the first 2 days are horrendous! Bleh!

Ever since I can remember I've had diarrhea the day before and the first two days of my period. As soon as I started the treatment for UC (asacol/salofalk enemas) I no longer get this...weird, huh??

I have never noticed anything, but then again I haven't had UC for very long. Even before I was diagnosed though, I rarely had period symptoms just mild back pain.

Glad it's not just me! I figured it was a girl thing. I guess it's all related to everything being so inflamed down there. Geesh.

Yup, hormone thing I believe. I'm actually doing progesterone testing in a couple weeks based on my cycle to see how my levels are and if adjusting them (if low) could help the UC. Had to wait til I was off BC and "regular". I've been in a flare for over a year and still notice particularly last month how I seem to get double-bloated and worse when on it. But even when I was "normal" feeling throughout the years (and on birth control), I usually got a little bit looser stool around that time. Nothing like a full flare though.

My lower abdomen starts to hurt and yes looser stool. The abdomen though don't know if it's from lialda too, but yes fatigue is at its highest and body pain.
