Uceris Cramping!?

Started Uceris three days ago. Anyone else experience severe abdominal pain? It all started when I started Uceris, my GI says its unlikely. Blah blah blah. Do our doctors even research the meds they give us!?? Main side effect is abdominal cramps! .... However I don't want to stop if this is helping my colon heal. I've seen improvement, I mean today I didn't have one bowl movement! I could be really constipated however. Gah... Tricky disease

What kind of cramps are they? Are they different from UC cramps?

When I was healing I had different kind of belly pain. But I knew I was healing. It went away once I was fully healed.

YES!!! I have been totally noticing the belly cramping. Does it almost feel like peroid cramps? I have had it for the past week. Not sure what to do about it.

Talliecat your cramping may also be from starting florastor... :)

I did not experience extra cramping with Uceris.
but we are all different! :) :)

Yes! Period cramps along with upper abdominal pain. I want uceris to work so I'm pushing thru the pain! I'm hoping this is all just the process of healing my colon.

Are you still taking the steroid enema? I'd think it would be a good addition to the Uceris since you cannot use mesalamines.

What is the stool consistency and frequency like?

I'm taking hydrocortisone enema... Works great for my bloody stools. My stools are all over the place. However lots of blood sometimes which is scary looking. But my inflammation markets are normal as well as my hemoglobin...

Inflammation markers vary with actual symptoms....so it's obvious for you that they don't match. Maybe with infection they would, but for flaring they don't. Good for you to know that.

Good the enemas are in use as well.

Your less stools and cramping match....it does mean things are improving if you had diarrhea previously.

You could ask the doc for an antispasmodic...I use dicyclomine,which helps amazingly for me.

See how you are in a few days....

Totally! He gave me the dyciclomicine. I'm using immodium right now. Cause I hate to add more meds but maybe will do the antispasmic. I'm on vacation right now so I just want to maintain no blood and cramping...

Imodium? and your doc is ok with that? I'd say that's part of the problem you have the cramping, because of the location of the inflammation and the functioning of the colon/rectum when it's flaring..

It's not something you should be using while in a flare....

Hope the dicyclomine helps...what's the dosage and the schedule as per your doc?

I used this antispasmodic called Clindimidium.. works great. I also had the upper abdominal pain when I started Uceris the first time but I don't notice it now, its definitely lower. I am stopping the Florastor.. to risky at this point and I am starting to feel yucky. I noticed Kombucha has a lot of the same bacteria so... let me know if the cramping gets better
