Help! - symptoms of colitis with C diff

Has anyone out there had C diff with what seems to be a uc flare? I had two different antibiotics a few weeks ago for a tooth abscess and have been feeling unwell since then: sweating excessively, diarrhoea, stomach cramps, until I'm nearly sick, bleeding and generally unwell. The GI nurse thought it might be an infection. They are taking a stool sample and I see the consultant on Monday. Any thoughts?

Yes, you are lucky you are being tested!! I walked around with C-diff for 2 yrs after intial attack. (diarhhea had subsided) so Dr. didn't know. They will give you vancomyicin or flagyl. (i had flaygl) They are super antibiotics not great side effects!! So do your research now, so you know what to expect! You are going to have to be vigilant getting your gut repopulated with good bacteria! It has been a year for me now and the side effects have finally subsided. Make sure you watch b12 folic acid and b6 vitamins due to wipeout of good bacteria you can get depleted and will cause anxiety and nervous problems and memory loss.. So if they give you these, get right on fighting the effects so it won't take you as long as it did me:) Good luck it is a real blessing that it hasn't gone undiscovered!! (if tests positive)

Oh verycommon after dental procedures!!! Do not know why the dentists are still allowed to prescribe the antibiotic that causes it. Mine was caused by combination of acid inhibiter and nsaid combo, this allows for the growth because your stomach acid is so low. If you have heartburn do not take any antacids!!! a teaspoon of baking soda and a little water works fast!!! and will not promote an environment for bad bacteria to re-multiply!! Prayers to you.

Thank you so much for the advice! I am quite sure it must be this, because of the other symptoms, which I have never had with uc, even in bad flares. Thank you very much indeed and fingers crossed I can get the infection under control. Seeing the Dr on Monday and having the stool tests. Prayers back to you. x
