Recently I've been spending a considerable amount of time away from home, and whenever I have, I found I barely have to use the bathroom. I normally go around five times a day, but for some reason this decreases to three or fewer when I'm staying somewhere else. Even when I try to go, I'm unable to. Then it's like as soon as I set foot in my own house again, the urgency is extreme.

I'm obviously relieved that I don't have to embarrass myself multiple times a day in other peoples homes, but I don't know why this happens. It makes me a bit sad because it makes me feel that maybe it is a psychological thing after all... like the times I REALLY need to control it, I can, if I try hard enough. Has anyone else experienced this?

Probably linked to travelers constipation, just heard about it on the doctors show yesterday lol. Ironically some people get travelers diarrhea.

I understand what you mean. When I had my first flare post patrum, I was predominantly staying at home and visiting toilet 8-10 times a day. But when ever I go out, I could stay without going to toilet 6hrs straight.  So nobody in my family took this serious until diagnosing, including my GP beleived something to do with postpatrum stress.

Sometimes that happens to me too but once in a while I get the urge while I am out and I a. Like ooooooh no....

I think you relax and so do your muscles maybe when you are at home?

I didn't go out and about much when I was badly flaring (just work, daycare, and some grocery shopping, but my husband did most of that), but I never had to pull over when I was driving, dash to the bathroom while out shopping, etc. I did have to go at work, and fairly urgently, but my office was right next to the bathroom and it was a relaxed environment for me. And I even had pretty bad urgency -- I had a couple of accidents at home.

Oddly enough, my son has had that happen to him many times. He has been to many outdoor events and didn't even need to use the restroom for over 24 hours. As soon as he got home though, he let loose!
