My gut weirdly hates good chocolate and tolerates cheap chocolate fine. The fakier the chocolate the better tolerated it is by my gut.
As far as making bad decisions I have observed this mind-body dichotomy up close and personal. My body KNOWS which foods/drinks caused bad reactions but the mind overrides the body because it wants the caffeine/sugar boost. It is truly amazing how much the brain can override the body at times, I remember finding myself eating/drinking something known to cause gut problems and saying "Wait a minute, why am I eating this?", too late.
That's interesting.
I believe that the mind and body are one and the same. Sometimes they go in diametrically opposed ways (psychological cravings override bodily limitations), but the key IMO is finding that alignment.
Last year, I was only able to tolerate a limited selection of foods (white bread, cultured butter, etc, etc) and roughage foods like peanuts, almonds would land me in a world of pain the following day.
I learned that that was actually a psychological limitation for my in particular later on, with the big assumption that there were no remaining wounds in the colon. I was setting myself up for failure whenever I ate the foods, and then low and behold, I would be in pain the next day.
Perhaps it was just my colon healing, but it took a little bit of faith for me to "test" some newer foods out. I said to myself: wait, if I was able to tolerate all kinds of foods before, why can't I now? It was like the body followed the mind, and synced together.
I'm happy to report I can eat whatever I want these days, though I avoid gluten, hydrogenated vegetable oils, soystud for the obvious reasons.
Best.
