Hello I'm due to start Vedolizumab soon and everyone has already been so helpful on this site in addressing some of my general concerns.

I'm just curious whether anyone has received info from their doctors (beyond what's in the Takeda booklet on Vedo) about fertility and pregnancy and Vedolizumab?

For example, I remember when I was on Methotrexate being told how my eggs would be (temporarily) altered .... So not only would it be awful to fall pregnant but the eggs couldn't be used for surrogacy or anything like that.

Anyway I'm just curious what people have been told about Vedo and their fertility. I am 33 and still hope to have a child one day.

There have been no studies to date involving Vedolizumab (Entyvio) and pregnancy. Imuran, 6-MP, and methotrexate have effects on fertility and pregnancy, but they are broad-spectrum immuno-suppressants. Remicade and the other anti-TNF drugs have had studies done regarding fertility and pregnancy and have been found to be safe. Entyvio is an even more specific immuno-modulator than the anti-TNF's, so presumably it would be even safer than them. However, there is no hard evidence yet to back that up. It's just too new a drug. Personally, if I were you I would not be too worried though.

As Bania said, theres no data on this yet, but it shouldnt be an issue. Since the only thing the drug changes is the number of immune cells in the tissue and thus the number of pro-inflammatory cytokines in the tissue, it shouldnt affect pregnancy.
