So this is a question for people heading into remission and who have achieved remission. I know that everyone is different and I've heard others say, it's based on how you were before UC.

Honestly I feel like I've always been a big pooper my entire life. Always had some sort of IBS, nothing bad though.

I'm starting to head into remission with Humira, but still going 3-6 times a day. All formed stools, no blood, mucus, cramping etc... However, I think I'll always deal with urgency, as it's an anxiety thing. I forgot what a normal bowel movement is like ! So sad :(

Before uc, I had 2-3 bms a week. Now I have 2 bms on a typical day, although sometimes 1 or 3. When flaring I've had 20+ bms a day.

pre-UC, i went about 2-3x a week. i suffered from constipation. during flares, it can be up to 30x a day.

currently- i go 1-2x a day. i can skip a day here and there if i eat a baked potato or something very starchy.

Pre-UC once a day and ever since diagnosed (2.5 years ago) at minimum 8 times a day. No matter what I do I cannot get below this frequency level. I don't get it?!

Pre-UC, 2-3 a day, normal, formed.

Flare 5-15 a day, loose or diarrhea.

Remission, once a day, or once every other day. Depends on the day.

Hmm, I'm thinking 3-6 x a day isn't quite remission yet! However, I've only been on Humira for two weeks. I need to give it some time.

Before UC 1 a day.
Now I have 1 or 2 a day, except when flaring, then it could be 6 or 8a day.

I have not had a solid BMin 2 years. Even when I am on Prednoisine my B M s are loose .

I guess that is the curse of UC!! turn

Pre-UC: Mostly 2 BMs per day, sometimes 3.

Flare: 2 - 4 (only experienced a mild flare)

Clinical remission: Rarely 2 per day. Mostly 3 - 6 (have IBS now) with mucus on the TP.

Experimenting with supplements seems to be helping reduce BMs and urgency but at a very slow pace.

Before UC, I think i went about once a day but I could go an entire day without going once in a while. While flaring I usually go between 10 and 20x a day - sometimes more. Most of the time there is no stool.

I am in the middle of a bad flare right now so I keep track of mine- yesterday was 36 trips to the pot.
I am being admitted to the hospital Thursday- 2nd time this year because I just can't get this under control. I don't remember what it was like to have normal BM's anymore.

Usually it depends on what I eat. On average between 3 - 7 times a day. No blood, most of the time formed, but as others have said, my main issue is the urgency.

Pre-UC: 1-2x daily
Post-UC diagnosis but not flaring (no blood or mucous present): 1-3x daily
Flare: 3-10x daily

I've never been constipated much in past but needless to say there are times when I'm on the porcelain throne in envy of whoever that says they're constipated!! :P

I think at the moment, it's like 3-4 times a day, and im having a little flare. No flare = 1-2 times a day, and heavy flare i think i can reach 30/Day.

Pre UC - 2-3/day (maybe it's got something to do with my metabolism - food just flushes through me)
With UC / non-flaring - 2-4/day, mostly formed but with moderate urgency (30-60 seconds?)
With UC / flaring - 6-8/day, many of those being what I'd call "false alarms" - only thing coming out is some blood / mucus

3 times a day on a good day. If i'm flaring, could be 6 or 7 times a day.

So I added up our average non-flare and flare BM's. This does not include before UC BM's.

Non-Flare:
Average: 2.7 Bowel Movements/Daily
Flare: 14.9 Bowel Movements/Daily

This seems about right!

I also got a good feel that most of us UC'ers would go 2-3x/daily before our UC dx. This is very interesting to me. That's more than the average person goes, based on the research I have done. Though I assume we didn't have urgency, blood, or mucous I wonder if IBS plays a role in the risk of getting UC? Not to say any of us had IBS before hand. However, none of my friends and family go 2-3x/daily. Interesting.

Pre UC I went once a day for the most part, sometimes I would have a day where I went twice or didn't go at all.
Flaring I had 3-8 BM's a day (some just gas with blood spray).
Now I typically go once a day for 4-6 days and then have a day or two when I go twice.

Great point. Before UC I would still go multiple times a day (though without any urgency or other symptoms other than the frequency), my friends would sometimes jokingly comment on it and I didn't think twice about it.

Pre-uc: averaged out to once a day
UC flare: 15-25 productive trips: always included poo and mucous
Remission: zero

Cuz I don't poop! SCREW YOU ULCERATIVE COLITIS

(empty my bag about 4-5 times a 24 hr period. usually not during the night at all.)

Pre-UC: 1-2 times/day

During Flare-ups: 20-30+ times/day with heavy blood loss

Flare post Remicade: @15 times/day with light blood loss

Post-op (j-pouch step 1 of 3, 7/31/14): Whenever I need to empty my pouch...
