I got an e-mail from my Gi today regarding my remicade failure. I asked to be put on Simponi and my GI does not want to put me on simponi and is pushing me to take humira.
I have heard humira does not work as well for UC patients. I could be wrong.

Would love to hear from people who have experience with both.
I also asked my GI to consider entyvio and it was not discussed in the e-mail.

Entyvio is leaps and bounds better than either Humira or Simponi, not only success wise but safety wise. Don't take no for an answer, whatever you decide. Don't let him push something on you if you would rather have something else.

used simponi since Dec 2013, but is not effective anymore and will be changing entyvio this week.  Simponi is better than Remi and I felt much better than when using remi. Also convience of shot vs iv.  Good luck with whatever you and your GI decide, I hope you have full remission.

I've been on Humira for a little over a month now. It's amazing! For me it helped almost immediately. I have no blood, mucus etc.. I was going 8-10 x a day and in and out of the hospital. Now I'm at 2-4x a day. I'm hopeful for the upcoming months because I know it takes time to reach full remission.

Personally, me and my doctors don't want to try Entyvio as of yet because it's such a new drug and you don't know all the side effects of them as of yet as it's just being released to the public.

I have not tried Simponi, however my uncle is on it and has great results.

Just like UC, you're going to get many different answers. Everyone's disease is different and everyone responds differently to medicine.

Simponi didn't do too much for me right out of the gate :( I don't know where this info regarding entyvio being so much better than the others comes from? I think the success rate is lower than Remicade and from the results here, I haven't seen any miracles. I know it takes a bit longer to work so I am hopeful.

Humira worked for my first 2 loading doses and then it went downhill from there, increasing the dosage and frequency did not work for me. Simponi didn't do much for me either but I never really gave it a chance either, I only used it to hold me over until surgery.

If I had to choose one it would probably be Simponi because Humira made me itch all the time and I would have really bad dry mouth. When I was making my decisions last year Entyvio was not approved for use yet. Today I'd probably skip the Humira & Simponi and go straight to Entyvio if I was going to continue to take medications but I'm thrilled not being on meds anymore since surgery.

I started Humira on 8/15/14 and as Trinity said, it helped almost immediately. I was going 10-15 times a day with blood, diarrhea and cramping, tired all the time, not sleepin, was wearing depends just in case, this was going on even while being on 30 mg of prednisone..Now go 2-4 times a day, if anything I got a little constipated, but used a stool softener and began eating more fruit and I am doing well. Down to 15mg of Pred, in past I had symptoms reoccur when I got below 20mg. My Dr. also said he would not put me on Entyvio because it is too new and not a lot known. He actually wanted to put me on Cimzia, but my insurance approves Humira first. I have had not side effects from the Humira...if anything I feel more energetic. The Humira people have been great to work with and with my insurance and the Humira card, my monthly copay is $5.00. What ever you decide to do, I pray it works for you and you get relief.

i agree with nssg on entyvio. i'm still waiting to her someone go in remission from it.

as for humira and simponi, simponi has by far been my favorite bio out of all the ones i've taken (remi, humira, simponi). i got extremely sick on humira so i only took the first set of loading doses. remi didn't last for me long either (5 infusions). simponi hasn't been a miracle for me at all but it's worked the best compared to the other bios. i haven't been in the hospital since october 2013 and before that, i had over 10 hospitalizations all UC related.
