When I first started checking resumes I was using Alta Vista.
Google makes it WAY easier.
You can also check Monster for the way the company writes their job ads so you know the buzz words they use.
I tweak my resume to match what they are looking for, focusing on the key words they use.
Sometimes a cover letter can absorb some of the things that might make them not hire you.
For example:
I would be a good fit for this position. In 2011 I volunteered for XXXX. I ... whatever it is the end result of the job is... Show how you have had previous experience doing what they want you to do. Landed on your feet, learned fast, came in ahead of deadline and under budget.
Worked well with a team. Were relied upon by your team leader.
Then whatever downside there is. You are looking for someone with experience using TS500. I have never used TS500, but I have spoken with others that have. It is similar to mx1400 which I am very familiar with. I have read documentation on TS500 and I would be to catch on very quickly.
