I have yet ANOTHER follow up with my PC doctor. The last stool test, they added to my chart on the internet came back all negative. I called the GI doctor to see if I could get my appointment with them moved up (if you recall they held me off until mid November sometime, that's the earliest appointment for a new patient). I was all prepared not to even go back to the PC doctor, this will make the 3rd follow up with him, He hasn't did anything (the fu is tomorrow). Yesterday I had the stomach pains I have before I have to run to the bathroom. This time it was bloody/watery diarrhea, I had 2 episodes with the blood in the stool. I haven't ate anything different or did anything different but I have to say the blood in the bowl was a bit frightening. I'll be glad when November gets here and I can get some answers.

A primary care physician can only do so much. Keep trying on the GI-specialist. Cancellations do occur, in most practice's schedules and they can fit people in. Try other practices in your area, if possible, as well. November is awfully long to wait...

I was rather concerned about the blood in the toilet. If not for the research I've done so far and reading post here I do see that the blood in the bowl is not unusual. It's cleared up for now. What are the reason's that the blood comes. From the foods we eat or just a flare or what??
If you recall the ER doctor was the one that said UC. Then PCP set up the GI appointment. Looks like when it's a referral for something more than just a routine colonoscopy they could work with you to get you in sooner. Also can a colonoscopy be done when the blood issue??

Yes, you can have a scope when you're inflamed. In the case of UC the bleeding is caused by the fragile tissues being inflamed. You could also bleed from other things like hemorrhoids or a fissure. If they would get you in quicker if you need a scope, it may be worthwhile since you will need the scope to get a diagnosis.

Ulcerative colitis causes inflammation within the large intestine, and ulcers on the surface which can bleed and cause blood in the bowl, tp when you wipe, and on stool. That is based on the disease itself and flareups of uc. Food (spicy things, and diets high in fiber) can aggravate uc symptoms.

Yes, colonoscopy is often done when the patient has signs of blood. I was given a scope when bleeding, for my initial diagnosis. I was sedated and did not feel a thing.
