Homeopathinc medicine

You can use the search engine as many here have tried all different kinds of things. In most cases these are shots in the dark trying to hit the broad side of a barn. Sometimes you can get lucky. Most of the time you are just shooting bullets in the dark, not hitting anything.

There are many alternative supplements available over-the-counter (e.g., to name a few: probiotics, coconut oil, aloe vera, psylium husk, slippery elm, nicotine, and more are mentioned in the "resources section" which is a post at the top of this forum). Some are prescription (e.g., IVIG and LDN).

Make sure to use uc medications at the same time as alternative treatments. Not all patients respond to alternatives, myself included. So, just because you read a glowing review on the internet about how something, like probiotics, healed someone's uc, you cannot expect the same exact results yourself. This disease varies so much person-to-person, on who responds to what. Good luck,

It's easy to get lost in the forest of alternative medicine. There's lots to try, everyone reacts differently, and some do nothing. If you have time on your hands, are doing relatively well uc symptom-wise, then you can experiment with alternatives one-at-a-time, evaluate them after a month (a year seems crazy excessive to me), and based on your own evaluation either keep or eliminate a supplement. If you are not doing all that well, then you should be aggressively seeking traditional medications, and trying new things your GI recommends to get things under control quickly.

You certainly can try the trial and error process on your own with out a Homeopathic doctor, and probably be just as successful, or more successful on your own. And you'll save some cash. Some supplements do improve the symptoms of uc patients, but it is very individual, takes a long time to track the right ones down, etc.

I saw someone for awhile that helped me w/ homeopathic treatments. I did a lot of acupuncture, supplements, changed my diet, etc. No luck for me.

These are the homeopathic medicines I was advised to try:

- ARGENTYN 23: Professional Bio-Active Silver Hydrosol 23 ppm Ultra-find [Ag(n)1+] Dispersion (This is a mineral supplement)
- OLIGOSOL: Cuivre Or Argent Copper Gold Silver
- HEEL: Nux Vomica (I don't know if you would need this. When ever my GI system is off, I cannot stop throwing up. I have more issues with throwing up than with BMs. All of the GIs have told me that most people with UC don't experience upper GI issues so I suppose you could skip this one if that's the case with you)
- L-Glutamine
- Saccharomyces Boulardii (This is a probiotic yeast. There are tons of probiotics on the market and there are a lot of great discussion on this forum of which ones have been successful. I'm sticking to this just because the homeopathic doctor recommended it.)

That's all I'm taking at the moment. Sometimes my potassium goes low (because of the vomiting) and therefore I take Kali Phos here and there.

I was also recommended Arsenicum Album but the doctor told me to hold off on it until I was out of hospital. I'm going to introduce it soon.

I don't know where you would buy them exactly. I'm in Canada so I got mine from Hooper's Pharmacy. They were able to order them from the retailers. You could probably find them online as well.
