GI appointment moved UP finally......

I had yet another appointment Tuesday with my PCP for follow up after the last stool tests. I already knew from results on the computer that it all came back normal, no parasites etc. I had all intentions of canceling that appointment but on Sunday I saw blood in the toilet bowl and thought it best that I go. I think that was why he was keeping me coming back, thinking that this may occur, but I don't know. Only that one episode of blood in the bowl have I ever had. I didn't feel bad before but the urgency I always get when I need to run was there. If you recall I already had the Nov appointment with a GI doctor set up by my PCP. I did call and ask if I could get in sooner, they said that was the earliest for new patients. Anyhooo....after the blood the PCP said he was going to see if they could get me in sooner. I have an appointment now for NEXT WEEK now!! Amazing they couldn't do that for me!! LOL. The PCP told me the blood could have been from a hemorrhoids. Which i've never had before. But there was no mistaken it was blood. Watery and bright red.
Can you all give me some information as to what ??s I should ask the GI doctor?? Things I should make her aware of that may be of some help in getting this taken care of. I have filled out the patient question thing and have it ready to go. I've never had a colonoscopy before and I have a feeling she'll do that before she does anything else. Also when it comes to the blood coming in the toilet bowl, is it always the bright red that I experienced??

Awesome Sheree on getting an appointment next week (better than nov, for sure). Expect a colonoscopy to be scheduled, possibly more stool tests by the gi (multiple tests to eliminate the chance of false-negatives to make sure your symptons are not bacterial in nature). Bright red blood is common with uc flareups. It's due to ulceration in the lining of your large intestine. I would ask your gi: how soon can you get a colonoscopy scheduled?

The first line of medicine for uc is meslamine-based anti-inflammatory meds (asacol, lialda, apriso, etc). They are often prescribed in both oral, and rectal (either enema or suppository); ideally you get both; treat from both ends.

Ugghh I was so hoping she'd USE the 3 I have already done. I HATE hauling poop. LOL Thanks for your advice.
