Stupid question regarding bleeding

Is what we have classified as internal bleeding?

I have to fill out this medical form for a placement and it asks if I've ever had anything where I've had internal bleeding. My initial reaction was 'no', because I don't think it's exactly internal because it... comes out... but I wasn't entirely sure, because I guess our large intestine is bleeding. I can't find a definite answer anywhere. Sorry if this is a really obvious question.

I wouldnt consider it internal bleeding. The lumen of the GI tract is considered the outside world afterall

Funny, I would consider it internal bleeding. Feels wrong though. Perhaps the medical officials have a definition. I try to look.

Although the blood leaves the body I would call it internal bleeding. It is blood loss from inside the body.

I'd say yes. This is off Wikipedia:

"A number of medical conditions may lead to internal bleeding. Common causes include trauma, various pathological conditions and complications of medical therapy. Common locations include the gastrointestinal tract, the aorta and intracranial hemorrhage."

darn this is confusing :/ perhaps crohns is more 'internal' because the ulcers are deeper in the wall?

I think "internal bleeding" means bleeding that stays internal. I agree with Marauder - if you can see the blood it is not "internal."

No question is a stupid question. My GI tells me that all the time. I would say no. To me internal bleeding is like your spleen, blood pulling up in the abdomen that requires surgery to stop.

Agree that it's not internal bleeding. I associate that with needing surgery to fix it.
