Pentasa (1g) and how long does it take and what do I do and kill me please...

Okay..so I have never in my life used suppositories...and now I'm standing before a big pill not having an idea what to do...like, yes, I know I should stick it up my ******, but I'm scared. How deep should it go? How long does it take to melt (does Pentasa even melt? doesn't look like it does)..what to do while melting? am i supposed to be lying or what? Why can't I just die? Who invented Pentasa? Can I send them anthrax in an envelope?

Ha ha! Welcome to the forum!

Everyone feels a bit like that when faced with the indignity of having to shove something up your bum! Anyway its not so bad, once you have done it a few times. I use the Pentasa suppositories a couple of times a week for maintenance, and once its in you wont feel it...

Remember to lubricate before putting it in. I tend to put it in whilst standing with one leg lifted up on the bidet, and it will only go in as far as, and as long as, the length of your finger! which actually isn't that far when you think about it....in fact, its a breeze, Oh and it melts slowly.

Yes, the initial humiliation of inserting a rectal...I remember it well. Anyway, it's a piece of cake. I've been doing it for 9 years. Much easier to insert if lubricated on the tip (I use KY jelly). Once you get familiar with where to insert, it goes in 1-2-3. I lay down on my left side since I'm right handed, with my knees up. You do not have to stick your whole finger in. Just enough to get the whole suppository in. Once it's in you can get up and do whatever. It is worth it to use rectals!!!

Save that envelope of anthrax for those who invented the various methods (which all boil down the same basic idea) of colonoscopy prep. If they can put a man on the moon, they've got to be able to come up with an easier way.

Lol you're right. The laxatives I took (Fortrans) were so disgusting I didn't know which way it will go out..

You can insert as high up as you can go with your finger *or* you can just insert it enough to be "in" and then "pucker" your butt so you ensure its in there. I usually try to alternate, but for your first few attempts it might be easier on your mind to just get it in, lol. I find it goes in easiest if I use it right after a hot shower. I've never had to lube it up. Also, once it's in you can go about your regular routine, it doesn't slip out or anything, just don't fart once you've put it in or you will be in for more than you bargained for scool I use mine before bed. When I wake in the morning I have gas from them and this gas must be expelled over the toilet bowl since it has a bit of oily residue. Once you've got the gas out its business as usual.

Is the gas in the morning very common side effect? Is suicide illegal? How to not fart?

For Me the gas is different, it's just loud air that needs to be let out first thing when I get up, then I'm fine for the day. Only happens the morning after I use suppositories. Maybe it's just me though!

It's not just you. I let out the same air over the bowl first thing in the morning. It's not a fart per se, but just air. And out with the air comes some grease from the suppository. Once it's out it's pretty much done (the air/grease part). You will also probably see some white from the suppository mixed in with your stool. No big deal. At first I thought it was mucous, but it's not. You can tell the difference. I do mine before bed as well. And I do try not to fart for awhile if I'm lying awake. At least until it is melted and somewhat absorbed. Otherwise some may escape with the fart. Pantyliners are a good idea when using a suppository. Yeah, good times indeed! I stress again though, rectals are SO worth it. I wouldn't put up with all this little BS that goes along with it otherwise. The oral meds don't really reach the rectum so good hence the need for the rectals. A little grease is no biggie compared to the alternative of continued rectal inflammation. Get them going already!
