I stop amitriptyline, neurontin, have first bleeding in 7 months

As the subject says, a week ago I discontinued these two meds that I took for UC symptoms (primarily abdominal pain, went away 4 months ago). During the last couple of months I've developed some rashes on my body and my doctor thought it was worth going off the amitryptline and neurontin to seee if they were causes. I did so cold turkey. Today I had the first bleeding (in stool and on TP) that I've had in 7 months.

Could either of the above meds been keeping my in remission, and going off them triggered this?

I don't understand most of the science, but I have taken Remicade before with no effect, so I'm surprised that any TNF suppression from these low dose meds could help.

Anyway, I'm on Simponi now and assumed that it was this that was keeping in remission.

However, by the timing of it, my remission coincides best with on on Gabapentin (Neurontin). However, everything I've read about this drug, besides the study you sent, suggests it has no anti-inflammatory properties and is never prescribed to induce remission of IBD, merely to mitigate IBS and symptoms of IBD.

I emailed my doc, but I think I better get back on these meds...agreed?

As far as I know remicade blocks receptors,Wellbutrin works I believe by stopping transcription of TNF A,
different mechanisms, so these drugs might work the same way,dont know,or up-regulation of IL-10 is making the difference.
As for getting back on the meds, I am no doc,use your best judgement.
