Can I carry on as normal after Simponi loading dose?

Last week I had the screening for the Simponi/golimumab trial. The trial doctors and nurses are all very nice, and were even willing to fudge the record a bit for me, as I had gone against protocol and taken an enema in the last couple of weeks, when I was meant to be off steroids for at least a month before going on this trial (I hadn't been told this).

I am receiving the loading dose this Friday and am super excited. However, I have to be back at uni for a very important meeting on Saturday morning. I know some people experience dizziness and stuff after the injections, so I'm wondering if I'll be alright to take the train back to university by myself the same day? Ideally I would have stayed the night at home, so I could relax and my family could keep an eye on me, but I really can't miss this meeting.

Obviously the intensity of all side effects varies from person to person, but I'm wondering if anyone has ever experienced drowsiness so bad that they are unable to travel/do anything by themselves.

Okay, just gonna book my train back and hope I don't die on the way :p

I'm starting to really freak out now though! Just having to read through all these disclaimers about how it could cause life-threatening infections... it's not good. I'm scared :(

Ditto on fatigue, but that's so hard to equate to Simponi. Only other side effect was a handful of facial acne. At age 44, that was more humorous, but it was relatively mild & short-lived. Wish I could say Simponi was the solution, but had little to no effect as did Humira for me. Sure hope you have better outcome!

I had remicade infusions for 6 years and Cimzia shots for two years during my last flare and the only side effects i had was headaches from the remicade. The shots did burn for a few minutes but then it was business as usual. Try not to stress out about it. If i cant taper off the ulcera simponi is my next step.

I was never premedicated. I have to be able to drive so I try to stay away from anything that might make me drowsy. They offered but I said no thanks :) That's annoying that they weren't familiar with giving the shots. Mine was easy peasy. I felt the medicine going in a little but no big deal. Way easier than remicade but I can tolerate the infusion. Whatever works at this point!! I hope you have great luck with Simponi.
