Hello Everyone,

Just curious if any of you have experienced a biologic taking 10 weeks plus to put you in remission? I am on simponi and while things are better, I'm far from good. I'm also on 20mg of pred and 100mg of 6mp. Today has been 10 weeks since starting the simponi. I started to ween the pred , I started at 40mg and have weened to 20mg, just tried to go to 15 a couple days ago and my symptoms began to return. Any feedback is appreciated

Interestingly I'm in the exact boat. 10 weeks on simponi and I feel better but hoping to feel great. Though I'm not sure if will happen. I'll follow this post.

same thing happened to me when i tried to get off pred. simponi is not a strong remission drug at all for me.

Took me almost 2 years to get remission from the cimzia shots along with a bunch of other meds.
After a year and a half of remission my insurance company switched my meds and sent me back into a flare.
Remicade just kept me barely functioning for 6 years.

Don't just expect remission because you are on a biologic. Reality is there may be no remission. It may just make life doable. If you expect nothing less than remission then you may be setting yourself up for a big disappointment. I don't think you will really know anything though till you are off pred completely.

I think simponi does take a little more time. I have seen people try remi for months before it helped....

Thank you all for your replies...Dr A, I agree that there are some things you just have to live with but 5+ bloody bm's a day for me to live with forever is hard to accept. I have to have hope that I can get it better than that....I hate this stupid disease

It took a full year for remicade to get me into a symptomatic remission. The initial loading dosages of remi made big improvements but then very slow yet steady improvements from there.

If you look at the odds of remission within the clinical trials for biologics, they are depessing. Usualy 30-something percent reach it. The drugs improve symptoms for many but remission is no guarantee... sadly.
