I hope you don't think I'm being intrusive but I was wondering how your daughter is doing. Hope surgery #2 went well.

She posted the other day on the ostomy board. It sounded like the 2nd surgery was tough but they are getting through it.

Thanks for asking; yes still in a tough place. Around 48 hours, so expected no less. Surgery was 5 1/2 hours. Her memory of the initial moments is ltd, so there's that. Walked today, unhooked the IV already, and on oral pain meds. A few blips; catheter pain, unknown orign blisters on tape sites, and a few nausea episodes, but by most accounts, she is in good shape. Expect 4-5 more days here. Hubby relieved me to go home to shower, sleep and cuddle with our dog before coming back to the war zone, lol. She is pretty comfy, in and out of sleep. Weekend warriors here, so I am on guard (lesson to the uninitiated; I/ we have been hospitalized over many a holiday and weekend, and it is always an adventure. Don't do it alone). Too early to extol the virtues ,but she went in full of hope and so wants to get on with living. The last year took its toll, but she was never better than on the way in for #2. I'll bet she heals faster than#1. Here's hopin'. Thanks for caring, all.

Thanks for the update. I'm glad she's ok and steadily improving.
She is so, so lucky to have you as a mom! I worry about
my little guy getting this crap disease but if he does, I can only hope to be as strong, knowledgeable, and supportive as you have been for your daughter.
Wishing your family a much easier year in 2015.

Glad you updated us, Katmom. Step 2 is tough-- from what all the surgery veterans have posted here. Hoping your daughter will be feeling much stronger by the holidays ... / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Wishing your daughter and your whole family the best. I can imagine it takes time to really recover from severe UC.
