Well I will be flying to Germany this weekend because my step dad died of liver cancer. He was 49 years old.

All I will be taking is a backpack and I hope they won't say anything about my meds. I'm also still battling what I think is kidney pain. I will see another urologist my GI recommended to me and hope we can fix this. I'd hate going there to be with my mom and be in pain. Yesterday I had another Prometheus test done as well to see how my liver is taking on Imuran now that I'm alternating between 100 mg and 125 mg. When I get the results I'll probably be already there.

It all happened way to sudden and I feel overwhelmed. Thankfully my boss understands and gives me time off to be with my mom and my landlord will take care of my cat. I originally planned on flying in spring and everyone thought my step dad would live for another year or two. Now I won't be seeing him again.

My condolences to you and the family. I hope you find some resolution in your trip to Germany.

I'm a bit curious about mutaflor given the changed status in the US. Let's say you were to buy some. Would they allow you to bring it back here?

Guardian, I could try to get a doctors note. However it needs to be cooled for the whole trip. I don't have German health insurance anymore so if I go see my former GI I would have to pay him out of pocket. I'm not even sure if they let me do that. In Germany you're required to have health insurance but I'm not living there anymore. I might have to save this for another trip.

Edit: Actually I can order it without a prescription. It's worth looking into. Thanks for bringing it up.

If possible, take a small bag to check in. I ALWAYS get loads of Rx meds from India in checked in bag and nobody cares to check the meds (even after they see it clearly in X-ray). If you take in a bagpack, you are essentially inviting them to crib/confiscate or whatever the agent may think at that moment. I prefer least interaction with folks at the airports.

I'm finally in Germany after a 15 hour trip. I started wiping blood in the morning and during my lay over in Atlanta. The second time was a lot more and I freaked. After that I started to have violent diarrhea which I think resolved by now. I still have nausea and cramps. It's all so awful :(

My mom is doing alright but she's glad I'm here. We had a preacher here for the funeral which is Thursday. It's all very emotional and I still see a lot of things from him. I need to help my mom putting them away for her because she cannot do it.

aww. I am happy you're there with her. I am sorry all this is happening, and of course, UC symptoms to top it off. I know you will get things back under control. I hope you have an enjoyable trip despite the awful reason behind it :(
