Thinning hair is a common thing when it comes to colitis, whether a side effect of the medications or the condition itself. I can't say it thinned my hair, fortunately, but it is indeed something that normally accompanies colitis. My advice for you is to see your specialist and try to pinpoint the reason for it (check out therapeutic alternatives), maybe seek a psychologist or psychiatrist to reduce your stress levels, and look into bringing your condition under control as quickly as possible, if it isn't already stable.

Have you been on it for a long time? I lost hair when I started Asacol. After a period of time, I stopped losing hair and it all grew back.

I always feel for people when they post about
their hair. It sounds like it can grow back though, and so I would definitely chat with a specialist about
it..

Hair loss can be an effect of the disease itself. Malnourishment or malabsorption are issues when one is in a flare. Also there is extreme stress on our bodies when we are in a flare. All these issues themselves can contribute & cause hair loss.
I know this all too well as over the course of nearly 20 years, this has happened to me several times. I am glad to tell you that, yes with time & proper nutritional status it does come back :) .

It might come in better than ever. I felt mine did, plus it forced me to wear a new hairstyle that was so much more attractive...some positives through adversity...:)

apply any oil on your whole scalp and hair every day for at least one hour before washing hair (i usually use argan oil, flaxseed or burdock oil), i can't think of anything better provided it is done regularly

Head massage daily with Almond Oil OR Gooseberry Oil makes the hairs grow again in lot of people. Try not to use too many shampoos, conditioners which contain all kinds of chemicals and damage the hairs in long term.
Simple, organic soaps are safer. Eating green veggies provide necessary vitamins and minerals needed for good hair.

Backing up what Diva2014 said, studies have also shown that coffee rinds and lavender oil also stimulate hair growth. Of course, proper diet and sleep are also necessary to preserve health, so eating veggies and stress reduction techniques are mandatory.
Best.

I don't know if this particular product is good but people take it for hair/nail health.

I started losing hair after I started on Remicade but it doesn't matter much to me because my hair is so super thick that now it's at a manageable thickness. I was on Biotin to help with nail ridges but yes it will help with hair too. I found that 5,000mcgs (or 5mgs) is the only strength that really works well. Biotin is naturally produced in the large intestine so when one has constant D it can deplete this vitamin which in turn can cause hair loss.
