Adding resistant starch - four tablespoons of Bob's Red Mill potato starch - per day to my diet turned my stool and gas from foul-smelling to barely smelling at all. Even while flaring, it kept the smell normal.
Resistant starch keeps the good guys healthy in your bowel.
Research this forum for more info. I know Bananagirl has had success with it. There's tons of info on it on the web, too, especially from pale folks who are adding it to their diets.
Worth trying. There's no risk if you start at low doses (1/2 a teaspoon for a few days, 1 teaspoon for another few days, 2 teaspoons, etc.). I saw a difference after a few days at my full four tablespoon/day dose.
For me, it is a huge relief to not have to worry about smell.
