Don't ya just love it when you're so sick and exhausted and someone whose not sick just keeps telling you how to get over it...
...and all you wanna do is punch them in the face?!

don't think I've ever had that said to me - pretty sure I wouldn't like it -

have been punched in the face more than a few times - didn't like that for sure !

Yes... it can get pretty bad. I had to estrange myself from the people that were constantly bringing me down.

Nevertheless, somebody's behavior towards you is the sum total of their experiences, childhood and so fourth, so it would be difficult for them to understand unless they have suffered with some kind of physical affliction themselves.

I think the concept of emotional intelligence (EQ) is very important these days. It creates a deeper bond between people.

I believe that's why the concept of punching the said offender in the face was introduced, so that they may suffer "some kind of physical affliction," thereby becoming more understanding.

In all honesty, I agree that such remarks may be offensive, but I don't believe that level of violence is necessary. Maybe gently smacking them in the back of the head would do, or kicking them squarely in the crotch might suffice.

People used to try to "urge" (bully) me to eat things or do things I knew would be bad for me. I got so tired of it from the same people over and over, I finally just said "I could do that, but it would give me explosive bloody diarrhea." The EBD excuse backed them off every time. Absolutely no one wanted to talk about it any more.

I've never experienced it.

Who exactly is saying this....because the context is important for our perception. Usually it's not a one-off statement....rather it's by someone close.

I don't spare cutting words in retaliation.....no matter who it is, and the biggest question to the other person would be "sounds like you need to vent about me..don't stop now".

When that happens, take opportunity to clarify father than becoming a victim of it.

Seriously, she is always giving me advice about what foods to eat or not but argues with me constantly about the choices I make about diet.
