So, this is all began with a dental procedure that required antibiotics after, to be specific clindamycin. Called the nurse 3 days in to complain of having diarrhea (going about 6x a day). She advised I continue the prescription to avoid infection.
My bowels have never been the same. My primary doctor ran a stool test and blood test to rule out infection or c-diff. Nonetheless, I was referred to a GI and I had a colonoscopy. The dr.'s diagnosed me with mild ulcerative proctitis. Did the hydrocortisone enemas, achieved remission. No oral meds whatsoever, was never advised to keep on meds either.
2 years later, I developed two fistulas (1 recto vaginal, 1 perianal). I have a draining seton in now and am contemplating the advanced flap, LIFT, or leaving the seton in for life depending on what my GI says now.
Success rate is higher depending on if I have IBD (UC or Crohns).
My GI says I don't have evidence of IBD since my panel came back negative and all my tests don't indicate so other than my colonoscopy from 4 years ago. I have done the upper GI series, endoscopy, and IBD serology panel.
I am at a loss and am frustrated with the GI. I have told them that this all started with antibiotics but they all tell me it's not from that. In addition, my sister has recently been diagnosed with Crohns.
I don't know what to do at this point other than wait the 2 months to see my GI for a follow up.
Thanks for reading/listening... guess I just needed to let it out :) no pun intended
