Hi all, I just wanted to
open the floor to everyone about
perscript
ion enemas. When I was first prescribed them a month ago I couldn't find much recent info/advice about
them so I thought this discussion might be helpful to tohers.
I've been on them for a month and don't actually find them too daunting anymore. Actually they seem to help my UC symptoms a lot. Only problem is that they work 'too well' I have recently been having such solid stools that I've been getting fissures and hemorrhoids which stops me from using them for atleast a week.
Anyone else had this problem or just want to share in the joy that is perscript
ion enemas

That's not a problem I had...the first couple days of solid stool were a bit painful but then everything evened out.
Have you thought of trying fiber? psyllium husk like in Metamucil?

one of the most discussed topics here, along with suppositories. most do not get this problem. you could try some slippery elm and fiber.

almost daily - we love talking about
our butts and the things that go on down there

Thanks guys, good to know that there are other threads I can look at and also that other people have had the same issues. I really feel close to remission so if i can just stick with the enemas I might get there. This issue is really blockimg my progress(no pun intended) my doc suggested 'normafibe' to losen things up? Anyone used this before?

Yeah, I found it to be much less difficult than I had anticipated.
I suppose the only problem I have is that I feel a slight need to retain the fluids, even though I typically take them before bed. By the time I wake up, I need to void pretty much right away. It wasn't like that with suppositories.

I used to run from enemas. I think they are the only thing that really helps me when I am in a flare and cannot get out of it with other meds.
