Hi. I HAVE ALWAYS had what I call "potty problems". I switch back and forth between C and D but I have D more. It also goes along with my female cycle. I always just assumed it was IBS. I DO HAVE A strong family history of crohns and colitis. Anyway, about 7 weeks ago, I started having D badly. Then it would switch to C but Id feel like I had to go but only mucus and blood would actually pass. I went back and forth like that for a few days before seeing my dr. She referred me for a colonoscopy. I had that done on the 31st. They removed 1 small precancerous polyp, found several tiny hemorrhoids, and inflammation and said I do have IBS. they did biopsy left colon, right colon and rectum....I guess that's where they saw the inflammation. Anyway, I don't have my lab results in my hand yet but the dr did get them and I spoke to him and he said its colitis. But he didn't say what kind of colitis. He said its mainly low in the colon. He has started me on CANASA 1000mg suppositories. Anyone have experience with these things?? I used my first last night and it came out. Advice on methods that work to get them in there would be appreciated. Im also taking probiotics now and fiber daily. My symptoms have been back and forth C AND D, a little left side abdominal pain when I am experiencing C, LOTS of mucus and moderate blood and thin stools. Does this sound like UC or some other kind of colitis? I don't have blood unless my stools are more solid or unless Im just passing mucus. I do feel better now than I did just with the use of fiber and probiotics.
