UC fever

Can't answer your question but I would like to take this opportunity to say that it is my opinion that any UC'r who gets fevers actually due to UC has their UC caused by some bacteria or virus and I would attempt treatments (such as the possible use of antibiotics) that concentrate in this area. My opinion.

When I flare, I always run a low grade fever. I don't necessarily agree with Gary on this one as far as needing antibiotics if running a fever. For me it is just part of the flare and it will go away when the flare gets under control.

Just to clarify my opinion - I said POSSIBLE use of antiobiotics, if your UC is being caused by bacteria or a parasite that a particular antibiotic would work on. If your UC was caused by a virus, antibiotics would do more harm than good. I do believe though that a UC'r having fevers due to the disease probably has pathogens of some kind as the cause so addressing that would be the first treatment option I would investigate.

What sort of numbers are we talking?

haven't a clue - never checked, just was always warm - my body was doing battle with a ferocious foe !

This only happened to me during my first really bad flare and I didn't get a fever until after I was diagnosed and being treated. When things barely started to get better I started what I called the walking fever, it varied on how high it got, normally only slightly up to around the 99.1 - 99.8 hardly ever got over 100. At the same time I was suffering major bed sweats as well? Those were worse than the fever. But eventually as things settled down both symptoms disappeared and I haven't had them since, this was about 8-9 years ago. But I had these symptoms for around 4-6 weeks, so it did get very tiresome to deal with.

I never really checked at home because I just know when I'm running a fever (I get bad night sweats). But when I would get checked during a flare at my doctor's office, it always ran around 100.
