I love milk, but it absolutely has to be raw for the enzymes, probiotics and the vitamin k2.
Do you mean raw or organic? If it is in fact raw be very careful. I took a class in food safety and HACCP and we learned how dangerous raw milk can be. It is very prone to foodborne illness.
When I'm in a flare I can't drink milk. It's weird though because it's just milk, not all dairy. Maybe because it's in liquid form, but it gives me diarrhea right after so if I'm flaring I try to drink almond milk or none at all.I strongly believe that the proposed harms by the FDA and CDC are fabricated to scare people. They've been disproven countlessly. It's mainly to prevent legalization in the restricted states so their fiduciaries (dairy and food industry) do not lose any sales.
The data shows no raw milk deaths in the past two decades, while many have passed away from tainted commercial produce (spinach, cantelope, cucumbers, etc). Risk of dying in car accident is 750 times greater. Chris Kresser did an awesome risk reduction in this article
here:
There were 37 outbreaks and 800 illnesses from unpasteurized milk during from 2000 − 2007, with an average of 100 illnesses per year. The estimated U.S. population as of today is approximately 313,500,000. Using the CDC’s own 2007 FoodNet Survey data indicating that 3% of the population consumes raw milk, we can estimate that approximately 9.4 million people drink unpasteurized milk (as I said above, the number is likely higher because of the explosive growth in the popularity of raw milk over the past 5 years, but 2007 is the latest reliable estimate we have).
This means you had a roughly 1 in 94,000 chance of becoming ill from drinking unpasteurized milk during that period.Further, commercial foods carry a higher risk of illness but they don't seem to be restricting it (wouldn't be good for business).
Seafood caused 29 times more illnesses than dairy
Poultry caused 15 times more illnesses than dairy
Eggs caused 13 times more illnesses than dairy
Beef caused 11 times more illnesses than dairy
Pork caused 8 times more illnesses than dairy
Produce caused 4 times more more illnesses than dairy
Yes. But id say almost 100% of milk on grocery store shelves is pasteurized milk. If all of the milk on grocery store shelves was unpasteuriEd you'd see that 37 number increase a hundred fold.
In my opinion it's better to just stay away from milk period. Whether raw or pasteurized since pasteurization has shown to be inadequate in killing off map.
