hey jf -
ya, if what you're doing aint working, time to try something different -
the brain/emotion/gut thing certainly is for real - I think the Ativan sounds reasonable - it's a pretty benign drug, w/o a lot of side effects -
what's his position on diet since you didn't mention anything ?
what is his time frame for getting you off your current regiment and on the new regime ;-) ?
Yup, he set the tone at the very beginning and asked if I can live the rest of my life like this. I said, I can temporarily if I knew what I was doing was going to work, but if this is how the rest of my life will be, then no way. So he established right up front that it's time to change.
That was his point exactly about
the Ativan. He said it's so mild that after a week or so on it, i won't even recognize the tranquilizing effect it has on me. Just kind of working in the background.
Diet- he was not surprised when i told him i haven't noticed a strong connection with diet. He's not a firm believer in diet correlation. He said that obviously if you have sensitivity to dairy or wheat, that you should avoid them. He said when flaring stay on low fiber, but for the most part he doesn't see a big connection. But, he was also aware enough to admit that everyone is different.
Time frame- He told me to slowly back off the Imuran, not to go to my next Remi, but he's not going to be the one prescribing my new meds. I'll meet with his old PA on 3/20. He has already gone over his ideas with the treatment and they are both on board. so, 3/20 will be the start date.
