Works but not forever.
Quit 1977 UC/proctitis 1980,restarted 1982 no meds went into fast remission, was also taking a lot of zinc.
Quit again 1986, in two weeks was in a flare, restarted, still in same flare, still smoke.
Also at the time tried high zinc again, still in same flare.
Have also quit a few times in the not to distant past, mostly cold turkey.
Last time quit for a month could not stand it any longer, at least 10 mouth ulcers, could not hardly
eat or talk, they were very deep and really hurt.
Carried around in my pocket a bottle of 20% benzocaine ,so I could eat.
From what I read nowl taper slow, and take a lot of zinc, which is supposed to stop the mouth ulcers.
It's just not the nicotine, but also carbon monoxide, plus 4000 other chemicals in smoke,
plus bacteria, and believe it or not MAP.
