I was doing great, until Norovirus

Went to a houseparty where 13 people including me, my husband and daughter all got ill with D and vomiting. I felt better after about 4 days, and it only took my family two days. Forward to a week later, and I started getting blood. Then the typical C diff stool.

I went to the doc yesterday and my sample was positive for both Noro and C diff. Now I am on Flagyl and some kind of cortenema. My ESR and CRP are elevated.

I was doing so well on Remicade, now my dose set for 3/20 is indefinite. I also just got done with a pred taper that began in October with my 8 night hospitalization. What an awful confluence of events. :(

Oh my gosh! Did you tell the hosts of the party? Did they cook with tainted water or something? Wow.

The hosts of the party were among the people that got ill. We didn't know if it was food poisoning or if someone there was sick. I think finding Norovirus in my stool specimen answered that question.

Also, it was a potluck so there were many possibilities of eating bad food. I think it was surface transfer thing, like someone who had contaminated hands touched all of the serving utensils. UGH! I have learned my lesson regarding potlucks and buffets.

C diff stool, for me anyway, is slimy, bloody, and smells extra foul. This is the third time I've had it.

I wonder if they will let me get the Remicade. My first dose was given while having C diff. I am also supposed to visit my mom in April, and she is on chemo, so there's that worry.

Omg, you poor thing. I'm terrified of noro. If the test came out positive for that, then I'm pretty sure that means it had nothing to do with food poisoning. Even though Patient 0 couldn't help it, I would feel like punching them in the face if I were you!!
