You are right that people today also live in terrible conditions, but in the past all people lived in terrible conditions. Let me say it this way if we were born in 2333 there would be probably cure for this. If you need to choose anytime in history to got some disease now is the best time if you dont count future.
The people that had best lives in lets say 1700 was aristocracy and you live far far better than them.
Regarding stress and mental issues 99 percent of history was just surviving not living.
Today people are lets call it chasing money, so they can have better lives. Some few hundred years ago people were just trying to survive. It is far less stressful if people are chasing money then just survival.
I believe that sometimes in the future people will think about
IBD it is something really not worth mentioning ( like today going to the dentist ) curable in one day I just hope it will be really soon.
And speaking about
the dentist imagine having that pain without painkillers.
Regarding that today we live far better then aristocracy prince Albert husband from queen Victoria had IBD
his wife was maybe the most powerful person in the world in that time so he had the best healthcare in the world but it wasnt even 5 percent what we have today.
