It felt like going to war without my commarades to have surgery without telling my HW friends.
She is in recovery. Number 3 is behind us, and a more healthful future is in the front window. Surgeon was pleased. Pouch looked good, they dialated a section of intestine that was too narrow, and the loop Illeostomy is sewn back up and in its intended location. Good riddance bag and UC for that matter. Will keep you posted and continue to try to help fellow sufferers. Thanks for all the past support...may need a bit more in coming weeks.

That is so amazing for you guys. Congratulations. It was a long road to get to takedown but it will be well worth it for a long life UCfree.

That's great news. You and your daughter must be so happy that the loop Ileo is gone, I know that it was a tough few months with it.

I also need to be dilated during my take-down surgery, it is very common.

Any plans for probiotics in a few weeks? I wish that I started them sooner. Also antispasmodic meds can be helpful in the first few months.

Thanks for updating us, and congrats on this milestone in your daughter's crusade against UC. Wishing her a smooth transition to the j-pouch; please keep us posted. You both deserve some lengthy breaks from medical "wear 'n' tear". / Old Hat (34 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Any update? I can't wait to hear how shes doing :) Is she home now? I know they usually keep you a few days and the first few after surgery can be tough.

Thanks, all. The first 24 are the hardest. Not nearly as much pain as the first two. She threw up this morning, so they decided to hold liquids for now. Tomorrow will be a test of food?/ liquid processing. Already bowel sounds, so that's good. Attitude is positive. I am sleeping on a delightful couch with only hourly interruptions, so feeling quite rested, lol.
Busy fighting with BC/BS at the moment, so there's that to amuse me...
Really all is fine for now, feeling hopeful. Just went for a short walk.

I hope you can get some rest soon. You deserve it. I am sure she's going to be thrilled to be back to normal function. It has been a long journey but one that will be very worthwhile. I can't wait to see you back saying she's out doing everything she should be and enjoying life :)
