Both methods should change the angle in the same way, right? Or does that small difference in the direction of gravity matter?
Leaning forward is one thing (though I think that sometimes adds to making it harder to pass BM's that are on the constipating side) squatting is different enough that it actually takes the bend out of the rectum to easily move stool through and out without all the straining that goes along with being constipated...you wouldn't need a squatty-potty for diarrhea that's for sure.
