Blood and mucus but no D

I have had blood as its gettin increasingly worse over the past month. I've tried enemas and suppositories but after I'm done with the dose it just comes back. Now, the toilet bowl is filled with blood and what looks like blood clots. I even have stains on my underwear where the blood leaks out a little. I'm calling the doc tomorrow but in the past, they've said its not a flare unless I have D. Mind u, I also had labs done three weeks ago and it was fine.

never had d with any of my flares, doctor is wrong.

Sounds like it may be time for new doctor. Every flare is different. My labs never showed anything even when I was flaring.

No kidding. New doctor. I usually have diarrhea when flaring (although blood does come first) but like ceecee, many people don't. Some even have constipation. My doctor doesn't really go by labs to determine if it's a flare or not. He pretty much goes by how I feel. If I'm not having normal bms and/or there's blood, pain, whatever, I'm in a flare.

Like right now I'm having blood (with clots like you), urgency, and cramping when having a bm. I'm calling my doctor tomorrow and telling him I'm in a flare. He's not going to make me go to the office to get bloodwork done to prove it. You know your body and you know what's normal.

I never had D, but I did have lots of soft, thin stool and bloody mucus. I never had that turn the bowl red experience until after my scope and I was terrified when that happened! What you are describing sounds like a flare to me.

Bleeding and mucus means flare. Hope you get on some meds soon.

Get a new doctor immediately. Bleeding is a huge sign of a flare.

Doc agrees that there is inflammation. I'm going to take Entocort for three months and he added enemas at night for a month. Never been on Entocort. Sounds like a better form of prednisone??

I agree, new doctor. I don't understand why you're stopping the enemas and suppositories anyway? Many of us use them ongoing for maintenance.

Good luck, yes, rectal steroids have less side effects than oral prednisone.

I hate using enemas- I'm supposed to call them in a week to see if stuff is looking better.
